Threaded Elbow

  • Threaded connection, no welding required, making it easy to install and disassemble.
  • Typically used for small-diameter pipe systems, usually 4 inches (100 mm) and below.
  • Good sealing is achieved using sealing tape or thread sealant.

High Quality Threaded Elbow We Can Supply

SSM produces threaded elbows and pipe fittings used to change the direction of fluid flow in a pipeline. Threaded elbows have threads on one or both ends, connecting them directly to threaded pipes or other fittings without welding. They are typically used in low-pressure, small-diameter piping systems and are easy to install and disassemble.

Threaded elbows are primarily available in 45-degree and 90-degree angles to accommodate different piping layout needs. Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloys. Threaded elbows are commonly used in water, gas, oil, and other low-pressure liquid piping systems.

Common Types We Can Supply

Threaded 90-deg Elbow

90 Threaded Elbow

A 90-degree Threaded Elbow is a pipe fitting used to change the direction of fluid flow by 90 degrees in a piping system.

Threaded 45-deg Elbow

45 Threaded Elbow

A 45-degree Threaded Elbow is a pipe fitting designed to change the direction of fluid flow by 45 degrees in a piping system.

Male Threaded Elbow

A Male Threaded Elbow is a pipe fitting with external (male) threads on one or both ends, designed to connect with female-threaded pipes or fittings.

Female Threaded Elbow

A Female Threaded Elbow is a pipe fitting with internal (female) threads on one or both ends, designed to connect with male-threaded pipes or fittings.

The Materials of Threaded Elbow We Can Provide

SSM’s threaded elbows are manufactured from controllable raw materials with strict quality control. We commonly supply fittings made from the following materials:

Carbon Steel Threaded Elbow

Carbon steel threaded elbows are known for their high strength and durability, making them suitable for low to moderate-pressure applications in industrial settings. They are commonly used in piping systems that handle water, oil, gas, steam, and other non-corrosive fluids.

Common Grades: ASTM A105, ASTM A350.

Stainless Steel Threaded Elbow

Stainless steel threaded elbows are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability, making them ideal for applications in corrosive environments or where hygiene is critical. They are commonly used in industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, petrochemical, and water treatment.

Common Grades: ASTM A182 F304/F304L , ASTM A182 F316/F316L

Alloy Steel Threaded Elbow

Alloy steel threaded elbows provide enhanced mechanical properties, such as higher strength, toughness, and resistance to wear, temperature, and pressure, making these elbows suitable for demanding applications. They are commonly used in high-pressure and high-temperature systems in industries like oil and gas, power generation, petrochemicals, and chemical processing.

Common Grades: ASTM A182 F11, ASTM A182 F22.

Nikel Alloy Threaded Elbow

Nickel alloy threaded elbows offer excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and high temperatures, making them ideal for harsh environments such as chemical processing, marine, and aerospace industries. They are also suitable for applications that involve handling corrosive fluids, high-pressure steam, or gases.

Common Grades: Inconel 600, Inconel 625, Monel 400, Hastelloy C276.

NPT BSPP BSPT Threaded Elbow

  • NPT (National Pipe Thread): Primarily used in the United States and Canada. Thread angle is 60 degrees. Tapered thread.
  • BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper):Primarily used in the UK, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Thread angle is 55 degrees. Tapered thread.
  • BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel): Primarily used in the UK, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Thread angle is 55 degrees. Parallel thread.

Ensure you select the correct thread type for your piping system to ensure a proper seal and long-term reliability. If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Application of Threaded Elbow

Threaded elbows are mainly used in the following areas:

  • Water supply and drainage systems: Ideal for domestic and industrial water supply pipelines due to easy installation and maintenance.
  • Gas pipeline systems: Utilized for transporting low-pressure gases such as natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas.
  • Oil and Gas Industry: Used for low-pressure, small-diameter pipeline connections in oil and gas production and transportation.
  • HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Systems: Employed for conveying coolants and heating media.
  • Chemical and Food Industries: Stainless steel or copper threaded elbows are used in environments that require corrosion resistance.

Advantages & Disadvantages of Threaded Elbow

Advantages:

  • Easy installation: No welding required, which reduces installation time and cost.
  • Easy maintenance: Simple to disassemble and replace, suitable for pipe systems that require frequent replacement or cleaning.
  • Low cost: Threaded connections are more affordable compared to flange and welding connections, especially in low-pressure and small-diameter systems.

Disadvantages:

  • Low strength: Threaded connections are not as strong as welding and flange connections, making them unsuitable for low-pressure systems.
  • Risk of leakage: Improper installation or poor sealing may lead to leakage.
  • Limited scope of application: Mainly used for low-pressure and small-diameter systems and not suitable for large or high-pressure systems.
