Socket Coupling

High Quality Socket Coupling We Can Supply

SSM manufactures Socket Tees, joint pipeline fittings used to create connections within a piping system in three directions. It features a primary and two side channels, forming a “T” shape. The Socket Tee has one or two socket ends where pipes can be inserted and connected through welding or other methods. The types of products we offer are as follows:

TypesSocket Coupling, Socket Half-Coupling, Socket Reducing Coupling
NPS1/81/43/81/2
3/411 1/41 1/2
22 1/234
Class Designation300060009000
MaterialA105, A182, A350, B462, or B564.

Different Types Coupling We Can Provide

Socket Coupling

Full socket couping is used to connect two pipes of the same diameter in small-diameter, high-pressure piping systems.

NPS: 1/8-4 Class:3000, 6000, 9000

Socket Half-Coupling

Socket Half-Coupling

Half coupling has a socket end on one side and is typically welded or threaded to the pipe on the other side.

NPS: 1/8-4 Class:3000, 6000, 9000

Socket Reducing Coupling

Socket Reducing Coupling

Socket reducing coupling has a larger socket end and a smaller socket end, allowing the connection of pipes with varying sizes.

NPS: 1/8-4 Class:3000, 6000, 9000

The Materials of Socket Coupling We Can Provide

SSM’s socket coupling are manufactured from controllable raw materials with strict quality control. We commonly supply fittings made from the following materials:

Carbon Steel Socket Coupling

Socket couplings made from carbon steel are commonly used in applications where durability and resistance to mechanical stress are essential.

Common Grades: ASTM A105, ASTM A350.

Stainless Steel Socket Coupling

Stainless steel socket couplings are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability.

Common Grades: ASTM A182 F304/F304L , ASTM A182 F316/F316L

Alloy Steel Socket Coupling

Alloy steel socket tee, known for its enhanced mechanical properties and resistance to high temperatures, which is suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure applications, including power plants, chemical processing, and heavy industrial environments.

Common Grades: ASTM A182 F11, ASTM A182 F22.

Nikel Alloy Socket Coupling

Nickel alloy socket couplings are ideal for use in environments with aggressive chemicals, high temperatures, and corrosive agents, such as seawater, acids, and chlorides.

Common Grades: Inconel 600, Inconel 625, Monel 400, Hastelloy C276.

Application of Socket Coupling

  • Oil and Gas Industry
  • Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Water and Wastewater Treatment
  • Boiler and Pressure Vessel Systems
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems

Pros & Cons of Socket Coupling

Socket couplings offer several advantages. These include reliable and leak-proof connections, ease of installation, and high strength and durability. Their simple design makes for quick and cost-effective installation, especially for small-diameter pipes. They are versatile and can be used in various industries such as oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, and water treatment, making them a practical choice for many applications.

However, socket couplings also have limitations. Due to their permanent attachment, they are generally suited only for small-diameter pipes and are not ideal for applications requiring frequent disassembly. Proper installation requires skilled labor. Without appropriate material selection or maintenance, they can be prone to corrosion. Additionally, they offer limited flexibility for pipe alignment adjustments once installed.
