Comprehensive Guide to Schedule 40 Pipe Dimensions

Table of Contents

SCH 40 is a standard pipe wall thickness grade, representing Schedule 40. It is commonly used to describe the wall thickness of steel pipes (such as carbon steel and stainless steel) and other materials.

SCH 40 is defined by the standards ANSI/ASME B36.10 (for carbon steel pipes) and ANSI/ASME B36.19 (for stainless steel pipes).

SCH 40 is a common wall thickness grade suitable for medium pressure and temperature applications. The wall thickness increases as the pipe’s outer diameter increases.

ANSI Schedule 40 Steel Pipes-Dimensions

Common Materials: Schedule 40 pipes are typically carbon steel, stainless steel, or PVC.

Applications: Commonly used for low- to medium-pressure liquid or gas transportation.

Advantages of SCH 40:

Wide Application: A widely used pipe wall thickness grade in industrial and construction fields.
Easy to Process: The medium wall thickness is convenient for welding, cutting, and installation.
Cost-Effective: More economical compared to thicker grades like SCH 80.

We offer SCH 40 pipes.
