Hastelloy C-22 (UNS N06022) is a versatile and highly resistant alloy, particularly valued for its compatibility with a wide range of corrosive environments.
Hastelloy C22
High Quality Hastelloy C22 Alloy
HASTELLOY C-22 alloy (UNS N06022) is a renowned and well-established nickel-chromium-molybdenum material, primarily known for its excellent resistance to oxidation and non-oxidizing chemicals, as well as its ability to prevent pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Its high chromium content provides significantly better resistance to oxidizing media compared to the standard C-276 alloy, and grants it exceptional resistance to pitting caused by chlorides, a form of corrosion that is insidious and unpredictable, to which stainless steels are highly susceptible.
SSM can provide Hastelloy C22 through pipes, fittings, flanges, fasteners, plates, bars, etc.
Features of Hastelloy C22
Hastelloy C-22 (UNS N06022) is a highly corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy known for its exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, particularly in chloride environments. It offers superior oxidation resistance, making it ideal for use in aggressive chemical environments, including acids, chlorides, and sulfur compounds. Compared to Hastelloy C-276, it provides better protection against chloride-induced pitting and is highly resistant to oxidizing and reducing agents. The alloy also boasts excellent weldability, high strength, and durability at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for demanding applications in chemical processing, marine, and pollution control industries.
Application of Hastelloy C22
Typical applications of Hastelloy C22 include:
- Chemical Processing: For handling highly corrosive chemicals, including acids, chlorine, and organic compounds, in reactors, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
- Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing: Used in the nuclear industry for systems exposed to aggressive chemical environments in reprocessing spent fuel.
- Pollution Control Equipment: Employed in producing environmental equipment such as scrubbers and other systems that deal with corrosive gases and acids.
- Food and Pharmaceutical Industries: Applied in applications requiring high sanitary standards and resistance to corrosive cleaning agents.
- Water Treatment: Ideal for components in water treatment plants, especially those exposed to acidic or alkaline conditions.
- Waste Treatment: Employed in systems that handle corrosive waste to ensure the durability of equipment.
