Understanding Flange Assembly: Components, Types, and Assembly Techniques
Flanges are generally circular metal discs with holes, which are bolted to another identical or similar flange disc to form a strong, detachable connection. The design of the flange makes it easier to install, maintain, and repair pipeline systems.

ASME B16.5 Forged Flanges Weight Chart
To estimate the weight of ASME B16.5 flanges (including Slip-On, Threaded, Socket Weld, Lap Joint, Blind, and Weld Neck), the material, size, and pressure class of the flange must be considered. The weight can be calculated based on the flange’s design and dimensions, such as the outer diameter (OD), thickness, and material density. To simplify the process, the weight of the flange can also be estimated by referring to a table.
